They serve one of the better tom yum soup that will put some of those restaurants in BKK to shame. I think the key is the right amount of spiciness with a smack of sourness just enough to titillate your taste buds. Do order the ground pork egg omelette if you happen to visit as I swear that I can eat this every single day. As well as the green curry chicken which is flavorful and definitely a must order however some of the other dishes such as the soft shell crab and Thai fish cake were quite average in my opinion and you can probably give it a miss. Have I mentioned that I am a crazy basil pork rice fanatic? If not then prepare to see a lot of basil pork rice in this post! Overall I like this place for the cheap eats and the convenience therefore do give it a try if you happen to be in town.

One of my very good friend recommended this hidden gem found in the preppy streets of Tiong Bahru. The restaurant is cozy and quaint therefore gives me a good appetite whenever I am dining here. We ordered quite a few items that night and the most memorable dish for me was the green curry chicken. Other dishes such as the pineapple fried rice, kang kong and phad Thai was not too bad however the pandan chicken was a tad too oily for us. R drank 2-3 glasses of Thai iced tea as he can't really take spicy food for an Indian. Ha, the irony.

Even on a mundane Wednesday night this popular joint is packed with hungry diners. Thank god we made reservations the night before else it would have been a wasted trip. Not sure if we were hungry or just plain greedy and ended up ordering more food than usual. S liked the red curry beef very much while I very much prefer the Thai prawn cake which is filled with succulent bite-sized prawns. Yum. We were disappointed with the stuffed wings as it did not meet our high expectations. *Try sugar granny cafe for finger-licking wings instead* Other dishes such as tom yum soup, sweet potato leaves, basil pork rice were at most average. Only saving grace would be the mango sticky rice drizzled with coconut milk that will entice you for more. Do note that they have a ongoing beer promotion... buy 2 small Singha and get another one free!
That's about it. If you guys wanna recommend me some cheap and good Thai eats... do leave a comment! :)

Tuesday, 22 October 2013 | 00:23 | 0Comment Maths is killing me. Complex numbers x Trigonometry and what not shit that I couldn't give 2 flying f's about. Therefore I am now on a mission to find back my inner peace before all hell breaks loose. Wanted to go for yoga so badly but just couldn't be disciplined enough to. I think the last time when I really worked out was at least a year ago. Oh well! I signed up for baking classes last week as an initiative to do something new. The class size was about 10-25 pax but only about 8 people turned up. We made pineapple tarts, how festive! Here are some pictures and hopefully they make you drool. Seriously doubt if anyone can find such a good place to learn baking at a reasonable price of SGD $28 in Singapore. Most of them charge exorbitantly and you can expect to pay at least SGD $100 tops. Ran a Google search online and found 2 other baking schools around my vicinity.

Sunday, 13 October 2013 | 20:12 | 0Comment When I was younger, I did certain things that were incredibly stupid but thankfully there were no drastic consequences involved. So every year on my birthday I wish for the intangibles instead of the tangibles. And this year, I want to have the wisdom to deal with people, work and the knowledge to manage my finances well. So I had another 2 din-dins and that calls for the end of my b'day celebration. One was on the weekday where us homies had some fine dining at Rochester Mall. The food was meh. But I think i will order the prawn capellini if I ever happen to be there again. After which, we tried to look for 1-Caramel but couldn't find it. Then the 5 of us had slightly more than a pint each at Brotzeit instead. I like it when my homies are in semi-high consciousness state. Alcohol makes people more fun ya? The other was on a Saturday after school (yes school is now on weekends too) with my family. Loved the food from MEDZ at Millenia Walk however my parents don't really fancy angmo jiak. Their rosti dish was really really oily and no more for me the next time. S got the striploin and boy was it juicy and tender. Can't help but to snitch chunks of meat from his plate when he isn't looking! Extra brownie points for them with the 1-for-1 bottled beers promotion. Got my presents as well and really thankful for all the thoughts and efforts! Hope that everyone didn't spent too much in getting all these stuff for me. Feeling loved! <3 Overall it was a good year for me and looking forward to the end of 2013 especially with the graduation and new prospects in time to come. Excited! Labels: penny4thoughts |
